The Welsh Springer Spaniel is a close relative to the English Springer Spaniel. Originally from Wales they were bred as a gun dog. Excellent as a companion or for a family with children. Their life expectancy is 12-14 years. The males are about 40-45 pounds and stand about 18-19 inches tall. Females weigh less, about 35-40 pounds and stand about 17-18 inches tall. They are a very sturdy dog and are very sociable. Families with Welsh Springer Spaniels should be prepared to spend a lot of time with their pet.
